Wedding DJ for Hire

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

A Wedding Function is a one of the most special parties in a person’s life.
That’s why the entertainment has to be just right.

Our wedding DJs know this, so if the entertainment is going to be in the same room as the evening meal they will set up before any of the guests arrive. We have heard stories about DJs that set up during the meal, making noise when installing the equipment and blast out  loud soundchecks during the main course. Obviously this is very bad so our DJs set up early making sure everything is tested and sounding 100%

At wedding parties you will mainly have a huge age range so you need tracks that appeal to everyone. We always remind our Couples that they can send over any playlist at any time. Even if they want to bring CD’s along on the night that’s fine.

Our wedding DJs can provide music during the meal.

Artists like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Nora Jones, Michael Buble etc always sound stylish but we always ask what the Couple want so they want to hear.

For the Disco part of the night our DJs make a big deal of the first dance.
We ask the guests to form a circle around the Happy Couple then stamp their feet, clap their hands, and make as much noise for the new “Mr and Mrs ………”

During the middle of the first dance the DJ will invite the guests to join the Newly Weds on the dancefloor. After the first dance many of the guests will be dancing so music that suits both grandparents and the grandchildren is essential.

Tracks like Kool and the Gang – Celebration, Jackson 5 – Blame it on the Boogie, Van Morrison – Brown eyed girl, Stevie Wonder  – Signed Sealed Delivered etc  work well.

Click here for a list with a few popular wedding and party songs.

As the party develops sometimes a few of the older guests leave and as the average age of the partygoers gets lower the music can be more modern as often requested by the bride and groom.

Tracks like Beyonce- Single Ladies, Robin S- Show me love, Justin Timberlake and The Killers etc work well.

The last dance is also an important part of the night so once again the Couple will be asked to take to the floor and the guests will be urged to give them a big send off.

On behalf of the Happy Couple the DJ at your wedding will thank the guests for joining them on their special day and as the couple depart to cheers and claps you can feel the love in the room.

We ask for a £100 deposit which confirms the booking for the DJ for your wedding. If a cancellation occurs more than 2 months from the event the customer is entitled to 50% of this back.

Nightclubs

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

Our DJs have a lot of Club experience and every one of them has the potential to be an expert Resident DJ.

Here are a few details about our DJs- Essential DJ Profiles

We could talk about guest DJ slots but those sets are the easiest because everything is so fresh and a guest DJ usually only plays for a couple of hours.

The key to being a great Resident DJ is being 100% reliable and of course playing to the crowd.

When the venue finds a Resident DJ they trust the workload of everyone is greatly reduced because that DJ will be conscientious.

They will get on with the job and turn up on time, play the right tunes, dress like the customers at the club, keep the DJ Box clean and not get drunk.

This last bit sounds a bit silly but unless you’re producing hit tracks you can’t be a great DJ and be drunk at the same time.

If you are a Resident DJ at the same venue each week you need to mix it up a little bit but not as much as you might think.

People like consistency (look at McDonalds!) so if someone goes to your night one week and love the music they might invite all their friends there 3 or 4 weeks later.

If the resident Dj is playing a totally new set of tunes and styles that’s no good because the person who has invited all their friends will have to explain why it is  different to what attracted them to the night in the first place, realistically people mainly need tracks they can relate to.

If the clubnight is a House, R’n'B, Funk and Soul, Reggae and Bashment, Drum and Bass, Indie etc etc you need a Resident DJ who plays that style and recognises when a track is working or not.

The best Residents are those DJs who know what not to play and can recognise when a track is not working. There’s no shame in taking a track off after 90 seconds but you need to deftly blend it out which is an art in itself.

If you don’t have a resident DJ at your venue you can use various guest DJ’s but you need a DJ Curator in this case who can programme the night with the right DJs.

Promoters will also programme a good club night but most importantly for everyone they need to pull a crowd to the night.

As a Dj Agency we do not promote nights but we do have contacts who can promote Clubs in London.

We can act a DJ Curator if you need to be put in contact with some good DJs and as experienced DJs ourselves we know who is perfect for most venues and club nights.

Nightclub bookings cancelled within 7 days of the event are subject to our standard cancellation fee of 50%
